This is the best place to find out not only what's happening to conserve wildlife and habitats around Cumbria, but also how you could get involved and where you go to see the amazing wildlife and wild places that Cumbria has to offer.
This is the work of over twenty organisations, all joining together to promote Cumbria as Britain's best-kept wildlife secret. Not just the place to go to see red squirrels, the county is also home to a variety of mammals like otters and pine martens; birds like golden eagles and ospreys and the country's rarest amphibian.
On a smaller scale Cumbria has a myriad of rare butterflies, dragonflies and other insects, as well as some of the country's most beautiful scenery. A breathtaking combination of lakes, rivers and tarns, against the backdrop of the majestic fells, Cumbria also has flower rich meadows and tremendous forests with a rich tapestry of tree species. This is the year round wildlife destination.
